Vegeteers in the wild
In the not too distant past, a local vegetarian decided to create a group of like-minded people to focus on animal advocacy on Gabriola Island.
After a successful response to an ad in the local paper, the Vegeteers group was born with a mission of promoting the well-being and welfare of animals locally and elsewhere, primarily through advocating vegetarianism and veganism.
Public outreach includes panel discussions and lectures, movie screenings, potlucks and much more.
The Vegeteers meet regularly on the island. Please send us an email if you are interested in attending and becoming a local vegeteer.

On Saturday 22nd June, I had the privilege of attending the Gabriola Vegeteers potluck vegan dinner. It was inspiring to see animal activists in action doing what they can to better the lives of the sentient beings around them. I was even able to hold and pet a rescued battery hen, something I hadn’t done since I was a girl many moons ago when my father raised free range hens. Sadly though, when they went off egg laying, they were slaughtered. It’s so true that change starts with individuals choosing to live consciously changing the world through action. Thanks for a great evening vegeteers!
